Sintered Diamond Burs – Black 80 Grit (10 Piece Pack)
Sintered Diamond Burs – Black 80 Grit (10 Piece Pack)
Extra Coarse Grinding | Initial Gemstone Shaping | Durable Sintered Diamond
Grotto Gemstones Black 80 Grit Sintered Diamond Burs are designed for initial gemstone shaping, removing unwanted material and preparing stones for finer grinding and polishing.
Manufactured using sintered diamond technology, these durable burs contain diamond abrasive throughout their working material, offering extended service life compared with conventional electroplated burs when correctly used and maintained.
Their extra coarse 80 grit abrasive is particularly useful for removing material efficiently and establishing the initial shape of a gemstone.
Suitable for working with Australian opals, quartz, agate, tourmaline, topaz and other compatible gemstones.

Grotto Gemstones Workshop Tip
Always use suitable water cooling while grinding to help prevent overheating of both the burs and gemstones.
Use light, controlled pressure and allow the diamond abrasive to do the cutting. Progress to finer grit grades to remove coarse grinding marks before polishing.
For ongoing maintenance, we recommend using a Grotto Gemstones Aluminium Oxide Sharpening Stone to help expose fresh diamond abrasive when the sintered burs become glazed or lose cutting efficiency.
Clean and dry your burs thoroughly after use.
Safety: Always wear suitable eye protection and use effective dust control. A correctly fitted P2 respirator is recommended where airborne hazardous dust may be present; wet grinding helps reduce dust but does not eliminate all exposure risks. Keep mains-powered tools and electrical connections protected from water, and follow the manufacturer's operating and electrical safety instructions. Children must be closely supervised, and powered grinding equipment should only be used by suitably trained operators.
