Resin Diamond Burs – Shaping & Polishing (7 Piece Pack)
Resin Diamond Burs – Shaping & Polishing (7 Piece Pack)
Progressive Shaping | Fine Sanding | Gemstone Polishing
Grotto Gemstones Resin Diamond Burs are designed for progressive gemstone shaping, smoothing and polishing, providing a versatile range of abrasive grades for different stages of lapidary work.
Manufactured using industrial diamond abrasive embedded within a resin-bonded material, these burs gradually expose fresh diamond particles as the working surface wears, helping maintain effective cutting and finishing performance.
The seven-piece selection includes four shaping and smoothing grits, followed by three finer polishing grades, allowing you to progress from initial surface refinement through to the final finishing stages.
These burs can be used independently on suitably prepared gemstones or combined with Grotto Gemstones Sintered and Electroplated Diamond Burs as part of a complete shaping and polishing process.
Suitable for working with Australian opals, quartz, agate and other compatible gemstones.

Grotto Gemstones Workshop Tip
Before using your new resin diamond burs, we recommend gently dressing the working surfaces with a Grotto Gemstones Aluminium Oxide Sharpening Stone to remove any raised manufacturing seams and prepare the abrasive surface for use.
Always use suitable water cooling during grinding and polishing to help prevent overheating of both the burs and gemstones.
Use light, controlled pressure and progress through the appropriate grit grades, ensuring scratches from previous stages have been removed before moving to finer abrasives.
For the best results, ensure your gemstone has been properly shaped before beginning the finer resin bur stages.
Important: Resin diamond burs are designed for progressive abrasive finishing. The final level of polish will depend on the gemstone material, surface preparation and polishing technique. Some gemstones may benefit from an additional finishing stage using a suitable polishing compound.
Clean and dry your burs thoroughly after use.
Safety Guidelines
-
Always wear suitable safety glasses when using rotary tools and abrasive accessories.
-
Use effective dust control. A correctly fitted P2 respirator is recommended where hazardous airborne dust may be present.
-
Keep fingers clear of rotating burs and avoid excessive pressure or operating speeds.
-
Keep mains-powered rotary tools, electrical connections and power supplies protected from water. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for wet operation and electrical safety.
-
Ensure burs are correctly fitted into compatible collets and operated within the manufacturer's recommended speed limits.
-
Children must be closely supervised, and powered grinding equipment should only be used by suitably trained operators.
