Grotto Gemstones Workshop Tip

Arrange your diamond burs according to their grit grades, keeping coarse shaping burs at one end and finer grinding and polishing burs at the other.

This makes it easier to follow the correct abrasive progression when shaping and polishing Australian opals and other gemstones.

You can also organise your burs by type, keeping sintered, electroplated and resin diamond burs in separate sections for quick identification.

Important: Always clean and thoroughly dry your burs before placing them into the wooden holder. Avoid storing wet accessories, as moisture may damage the wood and encourage corrosion of metal shanks.

Keep sharp bur heads facing upwards and position the holder on a stable surface away from the edge of your workbench.
