Each wooden dop stick comes with pre-applied dopping wax, ready to be gently softened and attached to a suitable gemstone.

Ideal for shaping, sanding and polishing gemstones, including Australian opals where wax dopping is appropriate.

Each pack contains 6 pre-waxed wooden dop sticks in three sizes:

The Mixed Wax Pack provides an opportunity to try both wax colours across all three stick sizes.

Different wax formulations may have different working characteristics. Wax colour alone does not determine its working temperature or holding strength.

How to Use

1. Select a dop stick size suitable for your gemstone.

2. Ensure the gemstone's attachment surface is clean and dry.

3. Gently warm the pre-applied wax using a suitable dopping heat source until workable.

4. Position the gemstone directly onto the softened wax and allow the bond to cool and firm.

5. Check that the gemstone is securely attached before commencing work.

Important: Avoid overheating the wax or gemstone. Australian opals can be sensitive to excessive heat and sudden temperature changes. Always follow appropriate safety precautions when working with heated wax and spirit lamps.
